Week 3 From Mountains to Sea

We sang a sea shanty The Drunken Sailor. We learned some riffs to make it more interesting. Listen to the riffs here

Week 1 Sea Songs

Our Classes today had an Irish flavour and were inspired by the sea. 


Warm Up We warned up with a nonsense song Lickety Split (6/8 rhythm) varying volume and tempo.
Singing We worked on a traditional Irish song , Ta na baid 
(lyrics below)
Adding dancing feet
We saw some great Irish dancing to the jig tempo of the song
Adding Percssion and Bass
We used a set of bongo drums to add a rhythmic ostinato ( short repeated thythm)
Adding a pizz note on cello to emphasize first beat in bar.

Close up on Cello Today the focus was on one of the bass string instruments.
