Week 6 Treble Island Tales Finale











Toc complete our programme today 2nd class joined 6th class and Senior and 1st joined 3rd and 4th for two special afternoon mega sessions. Bravo tutti!

*Once upon a time there lived a happy group of folk on Treble Island.   The Islanders liked to move to a beat and they began each day with a rap to help them get in the groove  Cue (Steady Beat Rap)  2nd class
On the south coast of the Island lived a colony of Penguins who occasionally came to tea Cue Penguin Song                               
* Even the animals were musical on Treble Island. In a field lived a very vain donkey  Ceol ars an t-asal   Tutti .
Every morning the men of the island put out to sea in fishing boats. They liked to sing seas shanties while they worked on the decks . So what do you do with a drunken sailor – listen and you’ll find out! Drunken Sailor
On days when the waves grew higher and the wind blew hard the their families waited anxiously on the shore looking out to sea   Cue Tá na  Baid .
In one corner of the island lived a giant This is the story of Jack ………….Jack and Beanstalk Song Story
 To celebrate Jack slaying the giant, there was a big party  with a céili and the pop group Beat Bears came to do a special concert. Everybody danced and sang to the Teddy Bear Rock and Roll
Finish with   party set Shoe the donkey  Mazurka /French Folk Song  /Polka
 Teddy Bear Rock and Roll.

Week 5 Uke Can Do




Exciting day at the Rathgormack MMS music programme as every student in 5th and 6th class got acquainted with the ukulele. We learned to play 3 chords C G and F . Click on the link below to view our special beginners ukulele lesson.

3/4th class learned a new tune to play on tin whistle and accordion with 3 beats to add to Shoe the Donkey.

Week 3 From Mountains to Sea

Week 1 Sea Songs

Our Classes today had an Irish flavour and were inspired by the sea. 


Warm Up We warned up with a nonsense song Lickety Split (6/8 rhythm) varying volume and tempo.
Singing We worked on a traditional Irish song , Ta na baid 
(lyrics below)
Adding dancing feet
We saw some great Irish dancing to the jig tempo of the song
Adding Percssion and Bass
We used a set of bongo drums to add a rhythmic ostinato ( short repeated thythm)
Adding a pizz note on cello to emphasize first beat in bar.
